WATER LILY - Feral Productions
For over 100 years, unmarried women who fell pregnant were stigmatised and hidden away in Mother and Baby Homes and Magdalene Laundries. Contrary to current understanding, this was not just in Ireland but across the UK and beyond. We pass these buildings every day, largely repurposed, largely forgotten, the stories they carry staying firmly within their walls.
To give voice to the ‘unheard’ women who were sent there, in 2019 Feral Productions collaborated with Ledbury poet Sara-Jane Arbury who turned archival research into verse. Her verses were then transformed into theatrical songs by Olivia Preye and performed in Hereford in a series of promenade performances across nine different locations.

DRFITWOOD Pentabus Thickskin
Two brothers on a beach need to figure out what to do with their dad - but the sea has other ideas. Mark and Tiny walk the shore of Seaton Carew in the North East. In this emotional, athletic and timely work that explores our hopes and fears for the future, witness a world that questions what happens if we come together, reverse the top-down dynamic and change our vision of the future.
Featuring haunting music from Ukrainian quartet DakhaBrakha, a striking 4m tall scaffold tree and the company’s trademark physicality, Lungs of Our City invites the audience to become a part of the experience! As the music picks up and the energy builds, the audience are encouraged to clap, cheer and move together as a collective. Together we'll create a powerful energy that will propel us towards our future hopes and wishes.

Helping to tell the story of this project as a filmmaker has been a unique and memorable experience. A journey of discovery - connecting with the source of the artists’ inspiration. Plas-Glyn-Weddw art gallery in North Wales has such a rich and varied history, the current and future plans for Plas are truly inspiring.
