Studio
Run by one filmmaker, with the crew each job needs.
The Task At Hand is run by Kie Cummings, a filmmaker and photographer based on the Herefordshire and Wales border.
We make documentary film and photography for companies, brands and cultural organisations, and we design the websites and identities the work sits in.
Most of our clients work with us over a season or a year: a planned programme of filming and photography, with films, stills and social cuts delivered as the year goes on. The work builds, and so does the archive.
Kie directs, shoots and edits. Crew joins when the job needs it: a second camera, sound, a stills photographer, an editor. You deal with one person throughout.

Before film
Twenty years of youth and arts work in the UK and internationally. It is why people on camera relax, and why our work with festivals, schools and community organisations is made with the same care as our commercial work.
Our own work
Focus Throw, a short documentary with Paralympic javelin athlete Dan Pembroke, won Open Screen at Borderlines Film Festival 2026. Alongside client work we make film and photography projects of our own in the UK, Ukraine and Central Asia.
